Originally as women began to enter the business world in the 20th century, there was little or no support for women in business, other than the slight support and encouragement they gave one another. Women were held to subordinate positions in business organizations and often could only find work in factories or possibly hospitals. Support for women in business was badly needed.
As women have gradually gained foothold in many areas of business and industry, more and more organizations have come into being to offer support for women in business. Many of these organiatios have been created by the women themselves. Currently there are many organizations providing support for women in business.
The National Association of Business Women provides support for women in business by women in business. The National Association of Female Executives is the largest women’s business owners organization in the US and offers resources and services as support for women in business. In addition to various national organizations, there are also numerous state organizations offering support for women in business throughout the US.
An international organization, Women in Technology International, offers worldwide services and networking to women in various technical fields. The organization supplies support for women in business, especially concerning issues important to women, and to new technologies.
